Join the Allen County Museum staff for a monthly lecture this Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the museum’s Folsom Auditorium. The museum welcomes Dr. David Strittmatter, Assistant Professor from Ohio Northern University, for his lecture titled, The Kent State Guardsmen Oral History Project. This lecture is free and open to the general public, museum members, and docents.
As Assistant Professor of History at Ohio Northern University, Dr. Strittmatter also oversees public history initiatives. He teaches an array of classes from Baseball History to Tudor England. His first book "British National Identity and Memory in the Twentieth Century" on the development of British heritage sites was published earlier this year. Since 2019, Strittmatter has directed the Kent State Guardsmen Oral History Project, which is a collection of interviews with Ohio National Guardsmen involved in the campus shootings of May 4th, 1970. Dr. Strittmatter earned his PhD at the University at Buffalo (The State University of New York).
